NECKLACE.....KAMAGI IN B'LAAN LANGUAGE

A piece of jewelry worn by B'LAAN that hangs around the neck. KAMAGI are made by the B'LAANS of a tiny bells, small coins, animal tooth, gun shell, colorful stones, metal, and other precious items makes tinkling sounds which are attached to the KAMAGI dangling chain. KAMAGI is consisting of a metal amulets, also famous of beaded work accessories with different sizes and colors used for the necklaces. Wearing of jewelry is part of their indigenous tradition and meant a lot more to B'LAAN people. B'LAANS are wearing KAMAGI with a unique designs and style are commonly used among the highland B'LAAN in bride transactions. One KAMAGI has the equivalent to three BOOS or three brass betel nut boxes to FAIS or long knife. Two KAMAGIS have the equivalent to value of three ALBANG ANSIF or traditional B'LAAN beaded garments. The KAMAGI with the future wife is permitted to wear on special occasions or celebrations, a bond of a man and woman to engaged to be married.
