HORSE......KURA IN B'LAAN LANGUAGE

HORSE OR KURA is a large animal with four legs, eating plants, with hair, and long tail. It's used for riding,
racing, to carry, for sport fighting and pulling loads. B'laan of Pula Bato, Tampakan, South, Cotabato, often used pack horse to transport goods from the harvested areas to a trucking point. Horsemen who have been contracted to carry sacks of grain, are often seen along the trail. the average contract rate for a horsemen is 35 pesos per sack, with each horse carrying two sacks of grain occasionally. Among the males B'laan society, the horse or kura, is valued among its other uses as a game or sport animal. Horse fighting usually accompanied festive occasion, among B'laan, such as wedding or samsung, and feast or safkaon. Occasionally, horse fights are organized as a special event, without the accompaniment of other ceremonies. Horse are assessed on the basis of ability, strength, wilderness, and age. Horse which excel in these categories are usually a source of great pride and prestige for the owners. A good horse also commands a high market value and may be exchanged for cash and for other desired goods.
